Unkept is a trading name of X Fifteen Ltd (company number 16122005, 14 Mallard Way, Derby DE24 8GX). We help renters in England check whether their tenancy deposit was protected, and introduce people who may have a claim to an independent law firm regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
We are not a law firm and we don't give legal advice. Our check is a guide based on your answers, not a decision on your case. The law firm decides whether to take a case on.
Using Unkept is free. If you go ahead with a claim, the law firm will agree its terms with you directly, usually on a no win, no fee basis with a success fee taken from any compensation. The firm must explain its fees, and any charges for cancelling after the 14-day cooling-off period, in writing before you sign.
We are paid a fee by the law firm for each case it accepts. That fee does not come out of your compensation.
You can check the three government-approved schemes yourself for free (DPS, mydeposits and TDS) and bring a claim yourself or through any solicitor.
Please give accurate information. We may decline to refer a case. We try to keep the information on this site correct, but the law can change; it reflects the position in England as at the date above.
If you're unhappy with anything we've done, email complaints@x15group.co.uk or write to Complaints, X Fifteen Ltd, 14 Mallard Way, Derby DE24 8GX. We'll acknowledge your complaint within 5 working days and send a full response within 8 weeks. Complaints about how the law firm handles your claim go to that firm first, and then to the Legal Ombudsman.
Data protection complaints can also go to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
